Position Overview and Work Schedule
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role carries responsibility for maintaining the overall functionality, safety, and efficiency of sheet metal/fabrication manufacturing facilities, including building systems, equipment, and safety compliance. This role is primarily based in Brockton, MA at the company’s headquarters building, with occasional travel to our other facilities in Taunton, MA and Nashua NH. The standard schedule is for First Shift – 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend or off-hours work as needed to support production schedules, projects, or rare emergency situations. Availability and willingness to pick up overtime as needed is required. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically skilled, safety-focused, and capable of working independently to manage maintenance tasks and projects efficiently, safely, accurately, and on schedule
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on facility systems and manufacturing support equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, compressed air, wet dust collectors, ovens, motors, pumps, conveyors, and hydraulic systems
- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems (familiarity with pop rivet guns, hydraulic presses, and temperature controllers a plus)
- Perform routine safety inspections, including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, safety eyewash stations, and other critical safety equipment, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Follow established preventive maintenance schedules and checklists, recommending adjustments based on equipment and system condition
- Maintain a safe work environment by following company safety policies, using PPE, and promoting safe work practices
- Support OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance initiatives
- Track and maintain critical spare parts inventory for facility systems
- Safely operate hand and power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tool
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, and remodeling tasks as needed
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed for specialized maintenance or repair tasks, ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion
- Build custom pallets and crates for secure equipment or material shipment
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance, inspections, and safety checks
Qualifications/ Core Competencies
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years of facilities or industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical repair
- Experience with motors, conveyors, pumps, belt-driven systems, ovens, and wet dust collectors
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, take ownership of assigned projects, and ensure tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call coverage
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for occasional travel between company facilities. Mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
Prefered:
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) experience
- Forklift and aerial lift experience preferred (or willingness to become certified)
- Experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling and RCRA compliance
- Experience using and calibrating pH meters
- technical or trade certification
- Basic welding and fabrication skills
- Possession of basic mechanical hand tools (wrenches, socket sets, pliers, etc.) is also a preference
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly; 75 lbs with help
- Work at heights using ladders or lifts
- Stand and walk for most of the shift
- Bend, kneel, crouch, and work in tight spaces
- Use hand and power tools safely
- Work in industrial conditions (heat, noise, dust, cold)
- Wear required PPE
