Job Summary
This position is a full-time position with the Mashpee Public Schools. The Assistant Principal will assist the Principal with instructional leadership, supervision, and administration within an early childhood environment. They will provide leadership that is favorable to learning and personal growth for pupils, They will build strong ties between home and school, and establish good relationships with parents and staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
Assistant Principal Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal in the areas of instructional leadership, supervision, and administration to promote the academic, social and emotional development of each student.
- Assist the Principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Serve as Acting Principal in the absence of the Principal.
- Support the Principal in administering all facets of instructional programs, including co-curricular activities. Supervise all certified and non-certified staff as assigned by the Principal and establish expectations for student learning performance, conduct, and attendance.
- Implement a fair and consistent system for student discipline.
- Monitor student attendance and work with the District School Attendance Officer to engage students and families in ensuring compliance with student attendance laws and policies.
- Assist the Principal in facilitating faculty and staff professional growth and development.
- Foster positive student, parent, staff, and community relationships.
- Implement federal and state laws, administrative regulations, and School Committee policies, as they apply to the school.
- Work with the Principal, the department leader, or grade level leaders, and the faculty to compile the annual budget requests.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited educational institution
- Must be licensed by the MA DESE
- SEI Endorsement
- Must be able to work cooperatively and independently in a school environment
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
- Cori and fingerprint clearance are required
REPORTS TO: Principal/Administrator
LENGTH OF POSITION: 220 days, school year (Unit B Contract)
LOCATION: Kenneth C. Coombs School
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
