Summary:

The Admission Counselor plays a significant role in supporting the mission and enrollment goals. As a crucial member of the Office of University Admissions, the Admission Counselor represents the institution to prospective students, parents, and college counselors in an effort to recruit first year and transfer students to Marywood University. Primary responsibilities include identifying and assisting students through the recruitment, application, admission, and enrollment process. This position facilitates recruitment within a specified region and is a part of a strategic, highly efficient, team based enrollment management model. Utilizing best practices, sound professional judgment, and strategy development, the Admissions Counselor will lead recruitment efforts in their assigned recruitment territory, and fully invest in meeting the established enrollment goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets and/or exceeds established enrollment goals for an assigned recruitment territory
  • Participates in admission travel of at least 12 weeks annually within the assigned territory, in new markets, and in other areas as needed, which includes: high school visits and college fairs (both in and out of state)
  • Promptly responds to phone calls, texts, and emails regarding application status, admission policies, financial aid availability, program offerings, and other general Marywood information
  • Develops and maintains relationships with prospective students and their families through frequent phone calls, email, text messages, written, and in person contact
  • Establishes relationships with secondary school counselors and independent counselors through attendance at recruitment events and frequent outreach through the admission cycle
  • Serves as the primary liaison between prospective students/parents and College programs, curriculum, and various campus opportunities by conducting interview and information sessions, as well as through other modes of communication
  • Completes application file review of admission for the assigned territory in a timely fashion
  • Collaborates with Financial aid and other offices across campus
  • Learns campus buildings to provide tours to prospective students
  • Extremely frequent evening and weekend work required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Demonstrates professional demeanor and ethical behavior while representing the institution
  • The ability to articulate the value of a liberal arts education
  • Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively with a team of admission professionals
  • Provide excellent customer service to prospective students and their families
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Quick and effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement programs and projects related to enrollment goals
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to stand in one place for significant amounts of time and lift boxes up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in higher education admissions or recruitment

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
