Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with a focus on DDA accounting, financial management, and regulatory compliance. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Duties
The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including but not limited to:
- Preparing and maintaining accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Conducting balance sheet reconciliation and providing general ledger support.
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Oversee the timely processing of bi-weekly payroll. Analyze, process adjustments, review entries and ensure payroll data is accurate.
- Interact with office staff and managers to facilitate accurate and timely payments of all employees.
- Enter all employee changes in Paylocity.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations each month, in a timely manner.
- Process accounts payables in QuickBooks, for all vendors and contractors in a timely manner and reconcile invoices.
- Analyze accounts to maintain A/P system for accuracy and completeness.
- Record and track cost of care monthly deposits and transfer allocated funds to MSS main account.
- Maintain all receipts for cost of care accounts.
- Bill for all services in LTSS billing system and reconcile payments.
- Track all insurance policies for timely payments.
- Provide audit records when requested
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
Other accounting and administrative duties will be assigned to provide professional support of the daily operation and day to day needs of MSS such as:
- Contribute to maintenance and updating of policies and procedures.
- Assisting in the preparation of regulatory reports and compliance documentation.
- Supporting auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes.
Experience
Candidates should have a robust background in accounting with experience in various sectors, including:
3 years of working experience as a bookkeeper and payroll processor
· Bachelor s degree in accounting preferred or relevant experience
· Solid knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP accounting principles
· Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, ability to follow-up on multiple issues and be deadline driven
- DDA non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or public accounting.
- Proficiency in double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and bank reconciliations.
- Experience with financial report writing and interpretation, as well as financial statement preparation.
- Strong analytical skills with an understanding of financial concepts related to payroll management.
