What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Network Specialist Lead position at Maryland School for the Deaf?
Build Connections That Matter at MSD!
Most IT roles are about keeping "the system" running. At MSD, your work ensures that our students and staff stay connected in a vibrant, visual, and bilingual environment.
We are looking for a Computer Network Specialist Lead to join our Columbia campus. This is a role for a technical expert who wants to lead a team while making a tangible difference in a unique educational community.
- A Culture Like No Other: You’ll be immersed in a rich cultural environment. No ASL experience? No problem. We provide the resources for you to learn ASL, allowing you to connect directly with the community you support.
- Mission-Driven Tech: When the network is fast and the workstations are seamless, our students thrive. You aren't just managing devices; you’re enabling accessibility.
- Lead and Mentor: Step into a pivotal role where you oversee the work of other specialists, shaping the technical standards across campus.
- Balance & Stability: Enjoy the benefits of a stable, supportive educational environment with a variety of work.
The Role
As the Lead Specialist, you are the bridge between strategy and execution. You will:
- Mentor the Team: Assign, review, and approve work for lower-level specialists, providing the guidance they need to grow.
- Own the Infrastructure: Manage our Google workspace environment for both our Columbia and Frederick campuses.
- Be the Expert: Troubleshoot complex issues and consult with users to ensure our hardware meets their specific educational needs.
- Stay Active: This is a hands-on role—whether you're configuring your device in an office or overseeing a new cable run.
What You Need to Qualify
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in computer information technology, management information systems or other information technology related field, including course work in local or wide area computer networks, from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Two years of experience planning, integrating and maintaining software and hardware for local or wide area computer networks.
Join a Community, Not Just a Company.
