Job Overview
Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic, Inc., seeks talented, dedicated and experienced individuals to join our staff. We are a congregation of Catholic religious sisters, who serve as missionaries around the world and across the United States. We began in 1912, when we became the first group of Catholic sisters in the United States founded for overseas mission. Today, we have approximately 245 sisters serving in 19 places around the world and throughout the United States, including at our Center House in Ossining, N.Y. This position is a combined position that works both in the Laundry and Housekeeping departments of Support Services based on department need. The Housekeeper/Laundry Aide performs a proportionate share of housekeeping and laundry tasks required to maintain the buildings and laundry needs.
Duties
- Keeps assigned areas of Maryknoll Sisters buildings clean and attractive.
- Collects, washes, mends, assembles and delivers laundry for the residents of Maryknoll including Sisters in Integrative Care.
- Annual and special cleaning.
- Assists in setting up and arranging common rooms for conferences and meetings.
- Prepares rooms for permanent and short-term Sister-residents, visitors and guests.
- Launders and prepares linens/clothing and items for other entities as well as individual Sisters, as approved by the supervisors.
Experience
Previous experience doing similar tasks, documented through references. Demonstrated ability and potential during the Orientation period of training and coaching conducted by the Housekeeping Working Supervisors. Prior commercial laundry and/or housekeeping experience helpful.
Education Required
High School Diploma or equivalent, not necessarily in the United States, preferred.
Ability to understand requests and directions in English from Sister and other department staff required.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
