Position Overview:
Mary’s Land Farm is seeking a professional and education-focused host to lead and facilitate structured field trips and group tours. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and age-appropriate educational experiences for school groups, educators, and adult visitors. The Host will serve as a key representative of the farm, communicating its mission, sustainable practices, and agricultural principles in a clear and impactful manner. This is a part-time position with the most field trips and tours in the spring and fall.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate educational tours for school groups, educators, and adult visitors in a professional and organized manner
- Deliver informative, engaging, and age-appropriate presentations on sustainable agriculture, regenerative farming, and farm operations
- Develop and adapt tour content to align with educational goals and varying age groups
- Collaborate with educators to ensure tours meet learning objectives and provide meaningful educational value
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for all guests throughout the duration of tours
- Utilize booking systems, calendars, and scheduling platforms to effectively plan and manage daily tour operations
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and fostering positive guest interactions
- Support overall farm operations as needed, including coordination with staff and maintaining tour areas
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Interest in or knowledge of agriculture, sustainability, or environmental education
- Experience working with children, educators, or group facilitation preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple groups and schedules
- Professional demeanor with a customer service-oriented mindset
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and fingerprinting, as required for working with children
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions—including muddy, sunny, wet, or cold environments—and navigate uneven farm terrain requiring stable footing.
