Martins Maintenance is hiring a hands-on manager to lead a warehouse-sanitation operation at a major food-distribution center in Rocky Hill.

This is a working management position—not a desk-only role. You will direct the operation while regularly performing physical sanitation work and periodic cleaning projects alongside your team. You will also inspect completed work, coach employees, support the working team leads and keep the operation organized across first and second shifts.

We strongly prefer candidates with experience in both warehouse operations and professional sanitation or industrial cleaning. We also want to see genuine management experience—not simply an unofficial lead title.

Candidates must have held a position in which they were directly responsible for managing at least three employees. Experience managing a team of 10 or more employees is a major advantage.

We are hiring for consistency and long-term stability. The manager selected for this position will have the opportunity to build the team, establish its culture and take ownership of the operation from its launch.

You will also receive direct support from Martins Maintenance’s management and operations teams. You will not be expected to manage the account without communication, resources or backup.

Starting Weekly Pay and 60-Day Increase

• Starting weekly pay: $840
• Weekly pay after a successful 60-day performance review: $920

Weekly figures are based on a 40-hour schedule. Actual earnings will reflect the employee’s hours worked.

The 60-day review will evaluate leadership, attendance, communication, staffing control, safety, inspection results, work quality and the overall stability of the operation.

What You Will Manage

The operation includes sanitation associates assigned throughout the dry warehouse, cooler and freezer, along with working team leads assigned to first and second shifts.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the daily warehouse-sanitation operation
• Directly supervising employees across first and second shifts
• Regularly performing physical sanitation tasks alongside the team
• Participating in scheduled periodic cleaning and detailing projects
• Inspecting work completed across both shifts
• Providing clear direction to working team leads and sanitation associates
• Coordinating communication and work handoffs between shifts
• Managing schedules, attendance, callouts and staffing coverage
• Reviewing employee time records and submitting accurate payroll information
• Training, coaching and correcting employees when standards are not met
• Assigning employees based on workload, experience and operational priorities
• Confirming completion of required cleaning assignments and checklists
• Conducting documented inspections using photographs, notes and service grades
• Monitoring sanitation throughout the dry warehouse, cooler, freezer and supporting areas
• Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment and required PPE
• Ensuring equipment is used, cleaned and stored properly
• Enforcing workplace-safety and food-distribution sanitation procedures
• Reporting spills, damage, safety hazards and operational concerns
• Communicating directly with the customer and Martins Maintenance management
• Responding quickly when staffing or service problems arise

The right candidate must know how to organize people, communicate expectations, document performance and hold employees accountable without creating unnecessary conflict.

This position is best suited to someone who is equally comfortable managing employees and working beside them. Someone looking only to direct the work without regularly participating in physical sanitation tasks will not be a good fit.

Management Experience Requirements

• Previous management or supervisory experience is required
• Must have been directly responsible for at least three employees
• Experience managing 10 or more employees is a major plus
• Must have experience assigning work, monitoring attendance and addressing performance concerns
• Must be comfortable holding employees accountable to safety, quality and attendance standards
• Warehouse and sanitation experience is strongly preferred

• Reliable attendance and dependable transportation
• Ability to manage employees working across two shifts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to organize schedules, assignments and staffing coverage
• Ability to document inspections and employee performance
• Comfortable using a smartphone or computer for reports, photographs and timekeeping
• Ability to remain on your feet and move throughout a large warehouse
• Ability to bend, reach, lift and perform physical sanitation work regularly
• Willingness to enter cooler and freezer areas while wearing required PPE
• Ability to work safely around active warehouse employees and equipment
• Ability to address performance problems directly and professionally
• Flexibility to respond to urgent staffing or operational issues when necessary
