What are the responsibilities and job description for the Off Shift Materials Supervisor position at Martinrea International Inc.?
Job Summary: Responsible for supervising high-frequency delivery system, ensuring production department can meet just-in-time requirements by supplying components.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of five years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent communication, organization, time management, problem solving, decision making, and teamwork skills
- Must have a good knowledge of the English language
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and inventory management system (CMS)
- Must be able to prioritize, work with limited supervision, give instruction, and be willing to be hands-on with projects
- Must be able to multi-task, analyse data, pay close attention to detail, and be self-motivated
- Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
- Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949
Essential Functions:
- Ensure employees are performing their duties to the standards and guidelines as dictated by plant leadership
- Reinforce compliance with health and safety regulations, company rules, policies, and procedures
- Supervise high-frequency delivery system
- Ensure product gets to the customer JIT
- Ensure non-production and production parts meet Martinrea requirements and provide them on time to production
- Ensure raw material inventory is identified and assigned by areas
- Support the Safety Committee at all times, and perform employee safety observations
- Ensure proper use of equipment, such as forklift trucks
- Must understand the six elements of the quality system, record retention, document control, non-conforming material, corrective action, preventative action, and internal audits, as well as department procedures
- Participate in monthly employee meetings and safety talks
- Conduct incident investigations
- Conduct employee training
- Correct substandard acts or conditions
- Perform employee safety observations
- Work on negative inventories and do investigations to make corrections
- Any other projects and duties assigned by Materials Manager
- Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journal, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
