What are the responsibilities and job description for the Job Captain position at Martinkovic Milford Architects?
Job Captain
San Francisco, CA | Full-Time, Permanent | 5–8 Years Experience
Martinkovic Milford Architects (MMA) is a San Francisco firm with a track record of producing work that stands out — literally. The City of San Francisco's planning department uses MMA's permit submissions as examples of what a great set of documents looks like. Clients like Salesforce, Sutter Health, and One Medical come back to MMA because the work is reliable, the communication is clear, and the results are excellent.
We're looking for a Job Captain who takes real pride in production — someone for whom a beautifully coordinated drawing set is not just a deliverable, but a point of professional satisfaction. You'll work directly with Project Architects on high-end restaurant and commercial interior projects, playing a key role in producing the documents that bring MMA's designs to life.
What You'll Do
- Own production documentation on high-end restaurant and commercial interior projects, ensuring quality, coordination, and constructability
- Work directly with Project Architects and senior leadership, gaining exposure to how projects are managed—not just documented
- Coordinate consultant packages and contribute to permit submissions, RFIs, submittals, and construction administration workflows
- Learn the business of architecture through meaningful project involvement and increasing responsibility
- Help maintain—and improve—the documentation standards MMA is known for
What You Bring
- 5–8 years of architectural experience with a strong CD production background
- Restaurant or commercial interior project experience preferred — you understand tenant improvement complexity
- B.Arch or M.Arch from an NAAB-accredited school; pursuing licensure is welcomed and supported
- Strong Revit skills; precise, organized, and detail-oriented in how you work
- A collaborative attitude — you work well with PAs and senior staff, ask good questions, and share what you know
What MMA Offers
- Competitive compensation 401(k) with company contribution health benefits
- ARE exam reimbursement and a professional development stipend — MMA invests in your path to licensure
- Private coaching, mentorship programs, and small group training sessions
- A seat at the table on real projects with impressive clients, not years of background-level production work
- A culture where your contribution is visible, your growth is tracked, and your mentors are genuinely engaged
"You're not siloed at MMA — you have opportunities to be involved, learn, and contribute in a meaningful way. The team is smart, supportive, and a joy to be around." — Alec Solow, Project Manager I, MMA
U.S.-based candidates only. MMA is an equal opportunity employer.
