Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Dynamometer (Dyno) Technician to support engine and vehicle testing within an automotive environment. This role involves hands-on operation of dynamometer systems to conduct performance, durability, and emissions testing while ensuring accurate data collection and adherence to testing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate engine and chassis dynamometers for testing gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains
- Conduct performance, durability, and emissions testing according to test plans
- Set up and configure test cells, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
- Monitor test runs and ensure accurate data collection and system stability
- Troubleshoot equipment, test setups, and vehicle issues during testing
- Support engineers with test execution, calibration validation, and data analysis
- Perform pre-test and post-test inspections of engines and vehicles
- Maintain detailed records of test results, issues, and observations
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and lab standards
- Assist with routine maintenance and calibration of dyno equipment
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical, or related field
- 2 years of experience working with engine or chassis dynamometers
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engines and/or electrified powertrains
- Experience with data acquisition systems and test cell instrumentation
- Ability to read and interpret test procedures and technical documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an automotive OEM or testing environment
- Familiarity with tools such as INCA, AVL, Horiba, or similar dyno systems
- Knowledge of emissions testing procedures and standards
- Basic understanding of calibration and engine controls
- Experience working with prototype or development vehicles
