Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Dynamometer (Dyno) Technician to support engine and vehicle testing in an automotive environment. This role involves hands-on operation of dynamometer systems to conduct performance, durability, and emissions testing while ensuring accurate data collection and adherence to testing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate engine and chassis dynamometers for gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains
- Conduct performance, durability, and emissions testing per defined test procedures
- Set up and configure test cells, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
- Monitor test runs to ensure data accuracy and equipment performance
- Troubleshoot test setups, dyno systems, and vehicle-related issues
- Support engineers with test execution, calibration validation, and data review
- Perform pre-test and post-test inspections of engines and vehicles
- Document test results, anomalies, and observations clearly and accurately
- Follow safety protocols and lab operating procedures
- Assist with maintenance and calibration of dynamometer equipment
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical, or related field
- 2 years of experience with engine or chassis dynamometers
- Strong knowledge of engine systems and/or electrified powertrains
- Experience with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation
- Ability to read and interpret technical test procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an automotive OEM or testing environment
- Familiarity with AVL, Horiba, INCA, or similar dyno/testing tools
- Knowledge of emissions testing and regulatory standards
- Basic understanding of engine calibration and controls
- Experience with prototype or development vehicles
