The payroll administrator is responsible for processing weekly payroll in compliance with California labor laws and union rules, onboarding new hires and maintaining records in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the new hire process for all salaried and non-union hourly and union employees
- Payroll for Union & Non-Union Employees
- Dispatch of Labor
- Certified payroll submission
- Certified payroll DIR upload
- Certified payroll upload to 3rd party software such as LCP Tracker, EMars, AON, RMS, eComply
- Maintain the Certified Payroll log & request missing payrolls from Subcontractors/Suppliers
- Scan and save all documents as appropriate
- Personnel File Maintenance
- Respond to and assist with internal and external audits (i.e., workers’ compensation, union, GL)
- Ensure proper record retention
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree Preferred; Highschool Diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years payroll experience
- Prior experience in a construction company preferred but not required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Extremely organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must meet company defined pre-employment physical and drug screening
Computer Skills
- Proficient Use of Microsoft Office
- Prior experience with Viewpoint Construction Software, HCSS, LCP Tracker preferred but not required
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to exert up to
20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Working Conditions
The office environment is a low to medium risk area. Computers and phones are constantly in use. Work in the construction area poses significantly greater risk due to moving construction equipment and active construction zones with trip and fall hazards, and movement across uneven terrain. Majority of work is performed outdoors with exposure to extremes of heat and cold temperatures and inclement weather.
