What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Manager/Service Writer position at Marti Auto Service?
The Shop manager/Service writer is responsible for having absolute control over production, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. Must supervise the shop with integrity, making sure technicians perform their jobs effectively, following work orders precisely. Jobs are to be checked for accuracy and completeness, and the shop manager/service writer must be an excellent time manager.
Compensation starts at $25/Hrs. and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Will greet customers and carefully listen to the client’s request or explanation of the work they want done or the issue they are experiencing. The service writer will proceed to write the service order.
- Must make sure to receive approval for the estimate before proceeding with the job.
- Responsible for assigning technicians to perform the tasks or repairs as required.
- Supervises the repairs, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and seeing to it that the work is performed on time.
- Must be fully capable of supervising technicians or taking over repairs, if needed. The shop manager/service writer should have a combination of "hands-on” professional experience and theoretical knowledge to verify work completion effectively. This includes having the ability to provide a thorough and complete diagnosis to pinpoint the problem, if necessary.
- The shop manager/service writer must review the service order for accuracy before the bill is presented to the client.
- Will make sure that all technicians report to work as scheduled, with their tools and properly dressed.
- All breaks shall be coordinated by the shop manager, making sure that all tasks are completed before dismissing anyone at the end of the day.
- Has the authority to enforce company policies and hold technicians accountable for their actions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or a GED required
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of U.S. professional automotive repair experience
- Knowledgeable in operating diagnostic tools and capable of interpreting the data
- A minimum of 5 years of Supervisory/Management experience related to Automotive Service Repairs
- Have a valid driver's license
- Must have great communication skills (Spanish is a plus)
