We’re looking for another great person to join the team at Martha’s Vineyard!
For us, security is about a lot more than standing at the door or stepping in when there’s a problem. Our security team is part of the guest experience. We’re looking for someone who is personable, approachable, observant, and great at talking to people — especially when a situation needs to be calmed down before it turns into something bigger.
The right person knows how to be friendly while still being firm, can communicate clearly with all kinds of people, and understands that de-escalation should always come before physical intervention whenever possible.
Depending on the shift, you may be walking throughout the club — checking in on the bars, dance floor, bathrooms, entrances, and other areas — or working door security, where you’ll help inspect bags and make sure weapons, outside alcohol, and other prohibited items don’t enter the building.
Most importantly, you’ll be helping us maintain the fun, welcoming, and safe environment our patrons have come to expect from Martha’s.
This is a part-time position, primarily Friday and Saturday nights from approximately 8:00 PM–2:00 AM. Shifts may rotate between members of the security team.
If you’re someone who can keep an eye on a busy nightclub, confidently handle difficult conversations, and still be someone our guests feel comfortable approaching, we’d love to talk with you.
Responsibilities
- Regularly walk the nightclub and maintain a visible, approachable security presence
- Help identify and de-escalate situations before they become larger problems
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with guests and staff
- Monitor entrances and assist with maintaining building access policies
- Inspect bags and help prevent weapons, outside alcohol, and prohibited items from entering
- Address disruptive behavior and, when necessary, assist with removing individuals from the property
- Watch for suspicious activity, safety concerns, or guests who may need assistance
- Periodically monitor security cameras
- Communicate incidents and important information to management and other security team members
- Complete incident reports when needed
What We’re Looking For

- Good judgment and situational awareness
- Excellent observation skills
- Dependable and comfortable working in a busy nightlife environment
- Previous security, nightlife, hospitality, military, law enforcement, or similar experience is a plus, but not necessarily required
- High school diploma or equivalent
