Job Summary: The Residential Specialist supports participants by providing a stable, supportive housing environment. Responsibilities include completing intake procedures, maintaining participant files, conducting evaluations, and overseeing day-to-day activities. The role ensures program compliance, safety, and participant accountability through consistent documentation in the organization’s database tracking system. This is a 24/7 facility, and flexibility in scheduling is essential.
Essential Functions:
- Provide new participant orientation and ensure timely, accurate data entry in the database tracking system.
- Maintain compliance in the sober living environment, including drug and alcohol screening procedures.
- Conduct and document participant living area inspections; provide feedback and guidance on life skills
- Review Service Statistics and correct data as needed.
- Conduct weekly client living area inspections. Inspect cleanliness of the living spaces and inform clients of deficiencies and provide opportunities for life skills education.
- Ensure adherence to policies regarding personal belongings and pest control.
- Record detailed observations in logs, files, and the data tracking system; share pertinent updates with case management.
- Conduct bed checks according to curfew regulations.
- Follow CPS reporting procedures; collaborate with HHSA as needed to ensure child safety.
- Ensure client compliance with house rules and guidelines.
- Monitor breakfast, lunch, and dinner attendance of children in accordance with the Department of Education’s food grants encouraging balanced meals for children.
- Maintain safe, clean environments and enforce program rules and procedures.
- Provide crisis intervention and management as needed.
- Facilitate monthly resident house meetings and attend staff meetings as assigned.
- Assist with ordering program supplies as directed.
- Promote and maintain positive communications and working relationships among staff, volunteers, and clients.
- Support Shared Living Responsibilities and collaborate with Facilities and data systems staff to submit and track maintenance or service requests through the organization’s internal reporting system.
- Work well in emergency situations
- Provide light housekeeping support as needed (e.g., room resets, folding linen).
- Perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, preferred.
- One year of related experience or training, or a combination of education and experience (including at least six months in Social Services or direct client/public-facing roles).
- Two years in social services, one-year experience in a residential program, preferred.
- Must obtain Riverside County Food Handler’s certification prior to or upon hire.
Other:
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- First Aid/CPR Card
- Initial NVCR training certificate and yearly recertification

Ability to speak effectively one-on-one to clients, groups of clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
