Overview
Martens Law PLLC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented remote paralegal to assist with real estate transactions and litigation matters, including family law. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who can work independently, produce high-quality drafts, and support an active legal practice with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Real Estate Transactions:
- Prepare closing documents, including deeds, transfer documents, and closing statements
- Review and summarize title reports and surveys
- Coordinate and assemble closing files and binders
- Track deadlines and assist with pre- and post-closing tasks
Litigation and Family Law Support:
- Draft discovery demands, responses, and basic motion papers for attorney review
- Assist with pleadings, stipulations, and case filings
- Organize and manage document productions
- Summarize deposition transcripts with page/line citations
- Assist with financial disclosures and net worth statements
- Prepare exhibits and assist with motion practice
Additional Support:
- Assist with landlord-tenant matters as needed (petitions, notices, filings)
- Maintain case files and ensure documents are properly organized
- Communicate with the attorney regarding deadlines and task status
Qualifications
- Prior paralegal experience (minimum 3-5 years preferred)
- Experience with New York practice
- Familiarity with NYSCEF a plus
- Strong drafting and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PDF editing, and cloud-based file systems
Work Structure & Compensation
- Remote - but may require in-office at times
- Part-time to start (with potential to grow)
- Hourly compensation based on experience
