School Nurse - RN

QUALIFICATIONS:                          

• Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Missouri.
• Knowledge of practices and procedures of the school district.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work with students, faculty and general public in a diplomatic, friendly and efficient manner.
• CPR Certification.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  170 days, compensation per salary schedule.

REPORT TO:                           Health services supervisor/building principal                      

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:               Essential job skills/knowledge and abilities:

• Conducts medical case findings, screening, and referral activities related to health defects of selected students.
• Refers parents of pupils needing medical care or welfare assistance to appropriate private or community resources.
• Conducts a program to control communicable diseases in the school.
• Serves as a health education resource person to staff and students.
• Maintains a health record for each student.
• Provides emergency nursing service for ill or injured students at school.
• Assumes the responsibility for screening procedures.
• Assists medical personnel in immunization programs conducted at school.
• Maintains confidentiality of pertinent data/information.
• Performs other duties as required or directed by immediate supervisor.
• Provides superintendent with a copy of current state licensure and CPR certification.

EVALUATION:                      Evaluated annually by health services supervisor/building principal.
