The Department of Biomedical Sciences seeks to fill a Research Assistant I position to work in the
Appalachian Natural Product Research Program. Duties will involve basic laboratory responsibilities to include, but not limited to,
Appalachian Natural Product Research Program. Duties will involve basic laboratory responsibilities to include, but not limited to,
- making solutions, assisting with experiments in isolation of potential medicinal compounds from plant materials,
- conducting assays to include cell culture experiments,
- collecting and analyzing data, maintaining equipment and glassware, keeping records, and assisting with the preparation of reports, presentations and publications.
Work will primarily be conducted at the Robert W. Coon Education Building, located on the grounds of the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Applicants should possess a B.S. degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field
Experience
- Familiarity with common software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

- Previous experience with natural product research is not required but is desirable.
