The DC Shipping Supervisor oversees shipping operations ensuring that all outbound packages are shipped efficiently and delivered as expected.
Location: Distribution Center, 3755 W Sunset Road, Suite A, Las Vegas, NV 89118
Schedule: Morning Shift (A1): 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Monday - Friday
Pay: $50,000 annually
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures all outbound cartons are shipped per WHSmith procedures and fragile items re-packed as necessary for safe transport
- Assists Operations Manager as needed with analyzing shipping costs and trends
- Coordinates activities of associates assigned to the shipping department to maximize DC productivity
- Reports training/productivity issues immediately to Operations Manager
- Report any DC Associate issues to Operations Manager promptly
- Ensures Hazmat/liquor shipments are shipped according to carrier guidelines and requirements
- Ensures international shipments meet carrier, US and recipient country customs requirements and are properly documented including NAFTA forms when applicable
- Ensures customer sales and customer returns are processed/shipped within 2 business days of receipt
- Tracks all outbound packages and LTL freight shipments ensuring delivery. Advises recipients and DC Operations of delays. Submits requests for refunds to carriers on service time failures or damages and submits appropriate claim paperwork when necessary
- Provides outer market stores with comprehensive shipping instructions and offers assistance with training when needed or upon request
- Maintains log in credentials for UPS Campus Ship for outer market stores
- Ensures WHSmith shipping systems are up to date with current UPS shipping applications and software and keeps UPS address books current
- Ensures associates assigned to the shipping department are properly trained and consistently follow WHSmith shipping procedures and DC policies and procedures
- Consistently communicates any store, customer, vendor or carrier issues to Operations Manager
- Communicates effectively other department supervisors to ensure scheduled store shipping cartons are cleared from the lanes and shipped in APTOS WMS system including cross dock orders
- Conducts outbound product carton QC checks as directed
- Ensures that the shipping department is kept clean, organized and in accordance with WHSmith Safety standards
- Notifies Operations Manager of any apparent damage to the DC, shipping/receiving docks or WHSmith assets. Assists in investigations as requested
- Maintains confidentiality of company sources and information
- Supervisory duties; hiring, firing, performance management and coaching of departmental staff
- Other duties may be assigned
