Job Description
The Accountant II – Finance will support the delivery of effective, efficient, and Sarbanes-Oxley–compliant finance processes to ensure accurate, timely financial information from transaction processing through period close and external reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
This role provides operational support across Record-to-Report (R2R) activities for assigned lines of business, regions, or accounting processes within BNY Mellon. Responsibilities include processing general ledger transactions, preparing and posting journal entries, performing reconciliations, identifying exceptions, and supporting audits, ad hoc requests, and special projects.
The Accountant II will help transform financial data into actionable reporting, ensure trial balance accuracy, and perform basic accruals and accounting adjustments. The role also contributes to the capture of performance metrics at the functional, team, and individual level. Rotational assignments across lines of business and geographies may be required to build a deeper understanding of BNY Mellon’s operating environment, legal entity requirements, and regulatory expectations.
This position specifically supports: Client Onboarding / Fund Conversion.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and general ledger events.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve variances.
- Support end-to-end R2R processes, including monthly/quarterly close.
- Identify, research, and resolve accounting exceptions.
- Assist with internal/external audits and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Perform basic accruals, adjustments, and other routine accounting tasks.
- Participate in performance metrics tracking and rotational assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with accounting applications, particularly PeopleSoft.
