Job Summary
The Utilities & Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing facility utility systems, including electrical, HVAC, compressed air, lighting, and building infrastructure across multiple manufacturing locations. This role ensures safe, reliable facility operations through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and close collaboration with the Maintenance Utility & Facilities Supervisor to support operational efficiency and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on facility utilities including HVAC systems, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, electrical infrastructure, and mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical diagnostics using schematics, electrical blueprint reading, and engineering troubleshooting techniques.
- Operate and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial electricians’ tools such as ammeters and ohmmeters, and precision measuring instruments to diagnose issues accurately.
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and manage inventory of spare parts.
- Conduct field service activities including working with low voltage and high voltage systems safely while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Support the installation, calibration, and repair of HVAC/R systems with knowledge of welding techniques when necessary.
- Assist with welding tasks, mechanical repairs, and the use of industrial mechanics skills to resolve equipment failures swiftly.
- Operate equipment such as scissor lifts for elevated maintenance tasks while ensuring safety standards are met at all times.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on troubleshooting process issues and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and system upgrades to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility electrical systems, lighting, and related infrastructure.
- Monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair compressed air systems, air compressors, dryers, filters, piping, and related equipment.
- Maintain and support HVAC systems to ensure proper environmental conditions throughout manufacturing and warehouse facilities

- Conduct routine inspections of utility equipment and facility systems to identify potential issues before failures occur.
- Respond to facility-related maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns in a timely manner.
- Assist with installation, modification, and improvement projects involving electrical, utility, and facility systems.
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, component replacement, and repairs in accordance with safety requirements and applicable regulations.
- Maintain maintenance logs, inspection records, and preventive maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers during maintenance and repair activities.
- Support facility infrastructure maintenance including doors, docks, lighting, plumbing, and general building systems as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies.
- Assist with energy conservation initiatives and utility system efficiency improvements.
- Travel between manufacturing plants and warehouse locations as required to support facility operations.
