What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Assistant Piano Accompanist - MHS position at Marquette High School?
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide piano accompaniment and assistance at Choir rehearsals on a weekly basis.
18 hours per week, 6 hours per day, 3 days a week.
Max of 600 hours per school year.
A specific schedule will be created with the choral director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist director in conducting weekly rehearsals.
- Act as accompanist for auditions, rehearsals & performances.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Show Choir Director.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to interact positively with middle and elementary students.
- Musical ability to provide piano accompaniment in a rehearsal and performance setting.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to bend, twist, life and manipulate equipment and supplies.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Five or more years of piano music instruction preferred.
- Ability to sight-read and learn a wide variety of music.
- Prior accompaniment experience preferred.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in the field of music preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the District, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends and meet the physical demands of handling a variety of student needs.
