What are the responsibilities and job description for the Catering Prep Cook position at Marquet?
We’re a NY-based, growing catering company that focuses on crafting delicious and aesthetic buffets and canapes. Think a mix of globally curious foods and the best of the classics, all focused on quality.
We cater to a full spectrum of NYC clientele, from ambitious start-ups and household-name brands to intimate private gatherings. For each event, our goal is to make sure we deliver foods that are a highlight of their respective gatherings, all while maintaining precision and calm.
We’re now looking to build a roster of reliable freelancers to help us take on a growing number of events. We offer paid training, fast pay (within seven days an event), and no commitment to a set schedule. Only pick up shifts you can commit to. All positions are 1099 contractor, shift-by-shift. Perfect for restaurant pros who want a reliable side-gig.

Sundays 10:00am- 6:00 pm
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 6:00am-2:30pm
Core Mission
Execute assigned recipes accurately, maintain a spotless station, and pack components and boxes for transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow weight-based recipes and plating photos in the digital binder
- Knife work, basic cooking (blanch, roast, sauce reductions)
- Label and store items under direction of Prep Lead
- Assist with dishwashing and kitchen reset at end of shift

Skills & Experience
- 1–2 years line cook experience
- Reads recipes confidently; open to feedback
- Food-handler certificate preferred (can obtain within 30 days)
