What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at Marmalade Skies Education?
Marmalade Skies is a warm, supportive educational center serving neurodivergent students (primarily mild–moderate autism) in grades K–8. We provide individualized 1:1 and small-group instruction in reading, writing, and math. Due to increased enrollment and the launch of new small-group programs, we are adding a Special Education Teacher to our growing team.
Salary: $38,000–$43,000 annually (DOE)
Schedule: Full-time, in-person (9:00am - 5:30pm, M-F)
Location: 1011 N. Craycroft Rd., Tucson, AZ
About the Role
As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll work closely with neurodivergent students in a calm, structured, and supportive environment. This role is ideal for an experienced special or elementary educator who loves teaching—but is ready to step away from the demands of traditional classrooms. You’ll focus on what matters most: meaningful instruction, strong relationships, and student growth.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide 1:1 and small-group instruction in reading, writing, and math
- Support neurodivergent learners using evidence-based, compassionate approaches
- Build positive relationships with students and families
- Collaborate with a small, experienced team to keep instruction engaging, structured, and individualized
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, psychology or a related field
- Experience working with neurodivergent students (autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.)
- Warm, patient communication style
- Reliability, professionalism, and strong teamwork skills
- Experience as an RBT (registered behavior technician) is a plus!
