Position Overview

As a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver for Marley Transportation, your primary role is to provide safe and reliable transportation services to individuals with medical conditions or mobility challenges. You will be responsible for transporting patients to and from medical facilities, rehabilitation centers, doctor's appointments, and other healthcare-related destinations. Your compassionate and professional approach is essential in ensuring the comfort and well-being of passengers during their journeys.

Key Responsibilities

Drivers with Marley Transportation will adhere to the following protocols:

  • Safe and Efficient Transportation: Safely operate specialized medical transportation vehicles, such as wheelchair/stretcher-accessible vans adhering to all traffic rules and safety regulations. Ensure the timely and efficient transportation of patients to their designated locations.
  • Passenger Assistance: Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking from the vehicle, particularly those with mobility aids or medical equipment. Provide any necessary support to ensure their safety and comfort during transit.
  • Medical Accompaniment: Accompany passengers to and from the vehicle, as needed, to ensure they safely navigate entry and exit from healthcare facilities.
  • Schedule Adherence: Follow the transportation schedule provided by the dispatcher or coordinator, making adjustments as necessary to accommodate unexpected delays or changes.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and respectful communication with passengers, their caregivers, and medical staff. Show empathy and understanding towards patients with diverse needs and medical conditions.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any issues or maintenance requirements promptly. Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained at all times.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately document trip details, mileage, and any relevant patient information in the company's records or electronic systems.
  • Medical Confidentiality: Respect and uphold the confidentiality of patients' medical records and personal information encountered during work.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Be prepared to handle unexpected medical situations that may arise during transportation. Follow company procedures for contacting medical professionals or emergency services, if necessary.
  • Compliance: Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Other assigned duties as neccessary.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of local roads and routes.
  • Compassion and patience when dealing with passengers facing medical challenges.
  • Ability to assist passengers with mobility aids and medical equipment.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and emergency procedures.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Physical ability to assist passengers with boarding and alighting from the vehicle.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and electronic logging devices is a plus.
  • Certified in basic life support and CPR is preferred.
  • Defensive driving certification is preferred.

Full Time/Part Time

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday: Hours will vary based on trips.
  • Nights: As needed.
  • Weekends: As needed with flexibilty to work a weekend on/weekend off schedule.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
