Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority:
Directly responsible to the Registration Center and Translation Services Manager and through him/her to the Superintendent of Schools
Statement of Duties:
- Responsible for written and oral translation of school documents, including, but not limited to,
- School communication to families
- Teacher/parent communication
- Individual Education Plans
- District-wide school messenger
- Aiding administration in parent outreach
- Ensures all "school to home" communications are translated appropriately.
- Maintains electronic data base of all translations
- Work a minimum of 10 evening events per fiscal year
- Aids in translation for parents registering in the Parent Outreach Center
- Supports the Administrative Assistant in the Registration and Parent Outreach Center
- Flexible schedule to include evening parent open houses and conferences
- Assumes other duties as may be assigned by the Building Administrators
Qualifications:
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable car to travel between schools during the work day
- Strong interpersonal skills as he or she deals directly with the public on a daily basis
- Must be able to work well as part of a team
- Must be self-motivated, flexible, very well organized
- Must be detailed oriented, with analytical and problem solving skills, along with customer service abilities and other related characteristics
- Be familiar with computers and computer software programs particularly Excel and Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook. Ability with data base programs such as Aspen are a plus. Be familiar with using the Internet.
- Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Registration Center and Translation Services Manager, Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools/ Assistant Superintendents may find appropriate and acceptable.
