We are currently supporting a pioneering company at the forefront of the autonomous trucking industry and are seeking an experienced Operations Lead / Dispatcher to oversee day-to-day fleet operations, driver coordination, and mission execution across a growing autonomous transport network.
This is a critical role that combines operational leadership, dispatch coordination, real-time problem-solving, and stakeholder management to ensure safe, efficient, and successful fleet performance.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Dispatch Management
• Coordinate and oversee daily dispatch activities across a fleet of autonomous trucks and safety operators.
• Monitor active routes, vehicle utilization, operational performance, and mission completion.
• Manage schedule changes, route adjustments, and operational exceptions in real time.
• Ensure effective communication between drivers, remote operations teams, maintenance teams, and client stakeholders.
Driver & Field Operations Leadership
• Lead and support a distributed workforce of drivers and field operators.
• Monitor driver productivity, compliance, and operational KPIs.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to improve efficiency and service delivery.
• Ensure drivers are adhering to operational procedures, safety standards, and customer requirements.
Operational Excellence
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance fleet efficiency.
• Investigate incidents, delays, and service disruptions, ensuring timely resolution and root-cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Support scaling operations as fleet size and operational complexity increase.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
• Produce daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports and dashboards.
• Analyse performance metrics, utilisation rates, delivery success rates, and operational trends.
• Provide regular updates to internal leadership teams and external stakeholders.
• Recommend operational improvements based on data-driven insights.
Logistics & Resource Planning
• Coordinate driver schedules, shift coverage, travel arrangements, and accommodation requirements when necessary.
• Support workforce planning to ensure adequate operational coverage.
• Work closely with recruitment and workforce teams to manage staffing requirements and resource allocation.
Requirements
• Previous experience in a Fleet Operations, Dispatch, Transportation Operations, Logistics, or Control Tower environment.
• Experience managing drivers, field-based teams, or transportation operations.
• Strong understanding of fleet coordination, route planning, and operational scheduling.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, real-time operational environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience using operational metrics to drive decision-making.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel, Google Workspace, and operational reporting tools.
• Experience working within technology, transportation, autonomous vehicle, mobility, or logistics sectors is highly desirable.
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
