Media Buyer

Use your powers for good as a Media Buyer focused on behavior change for Marketing for Change, a national research and creative firm propelled by behavioral science and focused on social change.

We’re looking for a media professional who understands that buying media isn’t just about impressions, it’s about impact. In this role, you’ll lead and support the strategy, planning, and execution of paid media campaigns that help good causes do even better. You’ll collaborate closely with our internal teams and clients to ensure media is placed with purpose, backed by data, and optimized for influence. You’ll also help mentor junior media staff, communicate directly with clients, and shape media strategies that are both creative and cost-effective.

The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset and the curiosity to keep up with a rapidly changing media landscape. You are comfortable negotiating with vendors, keeping multiple projects on track, and translating KPIs into compelling narratives that show the value of our work.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with experience, with an expected range between $50,000 - $60,000 per year.

About Marketing For Change

We are a research and creative agency that leverages the power of social psychology, neuroscience and behavioral economics to understand, influence and evaluate why beliefs, attitudes and behaviors change to advance social causes. Founded in 2005, Marketing for Change helps foundations, nonprofits, governments and companies “do good better.” Our 30-plus team includes copywriters, filmmakers, designers, researchers, developers and strategists — not to mention musicians, artists, podcasters, kayakers, and mountaineers. Because that part of life is just as important as work. Our work hubs are located in Orlando and just outside Washington, DC, and we very much prefer to hire people willing to locate in those areas. We are mostly a hybrid workforce with staff working together in-person at least one day a week because we value the fun and collaboration that allows.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in media buying. At least 2 years of experience managing paid media campaigns (including digital channels like social media, programmatic, search-engine marketing; and/or traditional channels like TV, radio, and out-of-home), or 4 years of related experience in marketing or advertising with a focus on media planning or buying.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. You can confidently evaluate, negotiate, and manage media contracts to get the best value.
  • Excellent communication skills. You’re clear and professional in writing, speaking, and presentations, and can translate performance data into stories that matter.
  • Data-savvy and results-focused. You know how to read a media report, connect metrics to client goals, and optimize campaigns for performance.
  • Organized and detail-oriented. You’re able to juggle multiple campaigns, timelines, and tasks without dropping the ball.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset. You don’t wait for direction, you look ahead, spot opportunities, and take initiative.
  • Innate curiosity and a passion for learning. You’re naturally interested in what’s changing in media and marketing, and you seek out new tools and trends to stay sharp.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior staff. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and helping others grow.
  • Comfort leading client communications. You’re confident running calls and presenting results in a clear, compelling way.
  • Passion for social impact work. You care about the mission and want your media work to make a real difference.
  • Familiarity with behavioral science or social marketing. You understand the value of influence beyond impressions.
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages. Bonus points for helping us communicate with more communities.

Some Of The Perks

  • We care about each other. We check in. We advocate and cover for each other. We cheer each other on. And we like to hang out.
  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, sick and holiday leave, 401(k) matching contributions, and paid parental leave. We offer a range of health plans including PPO and HSA healthcare, as well as dental, disability and life insurance.
  • We are a deliberately developmental workplace. That means we will help you develop and pursue professional goals that match your life goals and purpose.
  • We prioritize balance and flexibility. We are at our desks most days for 8 hours, not 10. We are open to schedule adjustments and flexible schedules.
  • We are a flat organization. Everyone’s ideas are valued. Anyone can spearhead a new company initiative or make change.
  • We care about social change. We show up each day as part of a fun and friendly work culture to do inspiring work that makes the world a better place.
