About the Role
As a Line Server, you’re more than the person assembling orders, you’re the heartbeat of our guest experience! You’ll greet customers with a smile, guide them through our menu, and ensure every plate leaves the line looking and tasting amazing. In our fast-paced, team-driven kitchen, you’ll be part of a crew that work hard, laughs often, and take pride in making every meal memorable. Cactus Taqueria is currently hiring a part-time Line Server at our Solano Avenue location in Oakland. The ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced environment, thrives in a kitchen environment, and has a clear understanding of health and safety standards.
Tasks of the Job:
- Follow recipes and the standards of quality of the kitchen and company
- Restocking line and kitchen as needed with all necessary supplies
- Managing your designated food area, assisting others when needed
- Preparing different food items using various techniques/methods, chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, weighing out portions, etc.
- Assist customers by taking orders (both in person over the phone), processing sales, bagging to-go orders
- Assist with processing completing DoorDash orders
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely manner
- Assembling dishes and completing basic food prepping tasks
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with customers and coworkers
- Ensuring the proper opening/closing of the kitchen
- Expected to know how to and successfully deep clean kitchen appliances, cases, all workstations
- Assist in all areas of the kitchen, as needed
Skills of the Job:
- Proven cooking/line prep experience
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Attentive to detail
- Strong sense of teamwork, capable of also working independently
- Being highly skilled at wielding knives and other kitchen utensils
Physical Requirements of the Job:
- Ability to perform strenuous physical duties such as lifting, walking, standing for 7 hours
- Must be able to lift, move, carry up to 50 lbs while using the correct technique
- Ability to work in a kitchen production environment (hot stoves, knives, refrigeration units, etc)
