About This Position

We are seeking an Assistant Purchaser to procures all the materials, tools, and equipment required for building projects and ensures they are provided on time and within allocated budgets. They ensure the profitability of business contracts by purchasing the most cost-effective and appropriate materials, tools, and equipment for each job

What You'll Do

Supplier & Vendor Management

• Source and evaluate qualified suppliers and vendors for materials, tools, and equipment.
• Build and maintain strong, trustworthy relationships.
• Negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
• Monitor reliability and performance.
  
  

Estimating & Bidding Support

• Provide up-to-date pricing and market trends to estimators.
• Maintain pricing sheets and advise on cost impacts.
• Request pricing adjustments based on field or submittal changes.
  
  

Submittals

• Prepare and review submittals for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with project managers and field teams.
• Maintain organized records in BuilderTrend.
  
  

Quoting & Procurement

• Obtain and compare quotes using a 2-quote method.
• Maintain detailed records and ensure quote accuracy.
• Recommend and award contracts to suppliers and subcontractors.
  
  

Purchasing & Logistics

• Manage purchase orders and delivery schedules via BuilderTrend.
• Forecast and plan material and service needs.
• Track lead times, backorders, and field requirements.
• Ensure safety compliance and resolve delivery issues.
  
  

Inventory Management

• Implement FIFO inventory practices.
• Track materials/tools for upcoming projects.
• Manage stock replenishment, returns, and credits.
  
  

Tools, Equipment & Fleet

• Source and recommend purchases for tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Oversee maintenance and repair costs.
  
  

Accounts Payable

• Review invoices for accuracy and consistency with estimates.
• Request credits for overcharges.
  
  

General Operations

• Maintain purchasing templates and task lists.
• Participate in team and owner meetings.
• Communicate price changes and product updates.
• Oversee shop maintenance.
  
  

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
• Proficient in using project management and procurement software (e.g., BuilderTrend).
• Ability to analyze pricing trends and provide accurate cost estimates.
• Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing quotes, invoices, and submittals.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across teams and with external partners.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of inventory control methods, including FIFO.
• Understanding of safety compliance and quality standards in procurement.
• Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
