Whether on or off duty, an employees conduct reflects on MCHC. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
- Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring to inquiries.
- Safely performs a range of routine clinical skills which include taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, obtaining specimens, performing specific diagnostic test, preparing and administering vaccines, as well as, stocking rooms, translating, chaperoning and escorting patients. May be called upon to perform phlebotomy.
- Responsible for conducting daily huddles to review clinical gaps and ensure patients are up to date on age-specific clinical care guidelines and quality measures including mammogram, colonoscopy, diabetic foot exams, pap-smears, laboratory studies, referrals, immunizations, etc.
- Documents all pertinent information regarding care rendered to the patient.
- Performs multiple clerical duties such as patient referrals, obtaining reports and dictations, telephone screening and call-backs, mailings, and faxes.
- Secures patient information and maintain patient confidence by safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential.
- Complies with quality assurance, infection control and emergency procedures consistent with clinic policy.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
- Responsible for drawing and processing lab specimens, while following applicable accreditation standards, safety regulations, and maintenance of all credentials.
- Assist health care providers with wound care including application of Unna boot, dressing changes, diabetic ulcer management, and other wound care techniques.
- Application of tuberculin skin tests.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use, cleaning, and troubleshooting of the PT/INR point of care machine. Works directly with Coumadin
- Checks-in patients, verifies insurance, and collects payments.
- Ensures necessary paperwork is filled out and collected at the time of patient check-in.
- Works with pharmacy medication delivery to confirm the correct number of medications are received and ensures medications are safely secured in clinical site.
- Hands out prescriptions to patients and ensures patient identification is verified for controlled medications.
