Job Summary |
The Supply Coordinator is responsible for providing and coordinating the daily ordering and stocking of all inventory supplies related to surgery which are used by MGH customers. Other duties include responsibility for the day-to-day management of requisitions, storage/maintenance of supplies, selecting supplies from the storeroom for upcoming surgery cases and distribution of equipment/supplies. The Supply Coordinator’s responsibilities shall include record-keeping and ensuring compliance with established internal inventory control procedures. The Supply Coordinator will be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the Surgery Department and will utilize knowledge of inventory costs and controls in order to evaluate inventory reports and recommend changes to increase efficiencies. The Supply Coordinator will initiate department responses and coordinate hospital-wide action to recall notices. Removes all outdated, ineffective and recalled supplies from the hospital supply chain.
This position will assist in the function of verifying, auditing, and inputting variable charges into the Meditech System. Additional duties include but are not limited to: assistance in maintaining a safe/clean environment. Supports and assists in obtaining and moving equipment necessary for patient care.
The Supply Coordinator also works in the Operating Room as a Patient Care Technician (PCT). This requires hands on care in accordance with the patient plan of treatment and care plan. The PCT assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment, which includes terminal cleaning of furniture and equipment used in the Operating Room and Endoscopy departments daily. The PCT also assists in transports, preps, positions and provides direct patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Supports and assists in obtaining and moving equipment necessary for patient care is also essential.
The Supply Coordinator will provide project support and maintain appropriate competencies as determined by the Surgery Services Management Team. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements |
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Two years of healthcare experience.

- Inventory experience.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities |
- Knowledge in inventory control, data processing procedures, storage and distribution systems and equipment/supplies for the Surgery Department and related areas
- Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, providers and other hospital personnel on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
- Developed computer skills and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously and effectively prioritize.
