MHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia.
MHI is looking for skilled and semi-skilled candidates to join our facilities department. Open positions range from Handyperson – Specialist. Duties may include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, shipboard services, or other duties requiring some degree of skill.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Completes daily assignments under the direction of the Facilities Lead person. Assignments will vary depending on the area of specialty.
- follows all safety rules and regulations.
- Utilizes appropriate tools to complete tasks.
- Operates forklift, man lifts, and rental equipment as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to five years of related work experience.
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular specialty.
- Must be able to read instructions and follow simple diagrams.
- Must be able to perform tasks independently after given specific instructions.
- Must be steady, reliable worker.
