Summary: The Saw Operator is responsible for parts inventory and for safely and accurately operating saws and related machinery to cut materials used in marine exhaust fabrication. This role supports production by preparing components according to specifications while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards. The working schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6am to 4:30pm.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Operate industrial saws, horizontal and vertical semiautomated bandsaw.
  • Pulling and cutting parts for fabricators jobs.
  • Must be able to read and measure using a tape measuring.
  • Must learn metal pipe and tube sizing (USA standards)
  • Must learn to operate and maintain the machinery.
  • Measure, mark, and operate materials before and after cutting to ensure quality and specifications are met.
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain saws and machinery for proper operation.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE and lockout/tagout practices.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and report mechanical issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and production team members to meet manufacturing schedules.
  • Responsible for inventory control (accepting, counting, organizing, cutting).
  • Visually inspect inventory quantities
  • Assist in other production tasks as needed.

Skills and Knowledge requirements:

  • Good communication skills include the ability to listen carefully and ask the right questions to gain clarification, must be able to read simple instructions and follow simple diagrams.
  • Previous experience operating industrial saws or manufacturing machinery preferred but not required
  • Capable of performing tasks independently.
  • Physical stamina and mobility include ability to reach, kneel and bend.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 50lbs), bend, climb, walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Punctual, reliable and conscientious with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of shop math, measuring tools, and cutting techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment (no Air Conditioning).
  • The ability to multitask, prioritize and drive projects is a must.
  • Manufacturing/production environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery
  • Use of personal protective equipment required.
  • Able to read, speak (comprehend) English is required, Spanish speaker is a plus but not required.

Additional Functions:

  • Additional duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by management.
  • Occasionally overtime might be required based on production demands.

License/Certification:

  • Valid driver’s License preferred but not required.
  • Must pass certification to operate a forklift.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
