The Activities Assistant supports the Activity Director in creating and leading a dynamic, engaging activities program that enhances the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our residents. This role plays a key part in making each day meaningful and enjoyable for those in our care.
What You'll Do
- Assist in planning and leading individual, small group, and large group activities
- Help develop and maintain the monthly activity calendar and attendance records
- Encourage resident participation in hobbies, crafts, reading, and social events
- Support in-room activities for residents who are bed-bound or isolated
- Assist with resident outings and transportation coordination
- Maintain positive communication with residents, families, staff, and community partners
- Participate in care planning, assessments, and discharge planning
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming activity space
- Support documentation including progress notes and activity records
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives as directed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting
- Creative, patient, and compassionate personality
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to engage and motivate residents of varying abilities
