Role Description The Surgery Scheduler is a full-time, on-site role based in Acworth, GA, responsible for coordinating surgical procedures and ensuring a smooth experience for patients and providers. Day-to-day tasks include scheduling surgeries, confirming operating room and provider availability, and coordinating with the ambulatory surgery center and internal clinical teams. The role involves verifying insurance coverage, obtaining prior authorizations, and clearly communicating pre- and post-operative instructions to patients. The Surgery Scheduler handles a high volume of phone calls, maintains accurate patient records and schedules in the medical office systems, and collaborates with staff to resolve scheduling conflicts and address patient questions. This position requires consistent attention to detail, efficient time management, and a strong commitment to patient-centered service.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform Surgery Scheduling tasks, including coordinating procedures, providers, and facility resources.
- Proficiency in Insurance Verification and prior authorization processes related to surgical services.
- Strong Phone Etiquette and customer service skills for handling high call volumes and communicating clearly with patients and staff.
- Working knowledge of Medical Terminology, especially in ophthalmology or surgical settings.
- Experience in a Medical Office environment, including use of practice management or EHR systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in medical office administration is a plus.
