Job Summary

This position serves as the Lead Barista in the college cafe, responsible for overseeing daily coffee bar operations and supporting part-time barista staff. Key duties include operating and maintaining the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, preparing accurate cash transaction reports, and crafting a variety of hot and cold beverages to order. The Lead Barista also ensures the cafe is well-stocked, clean, and compliant with health standards, while consistently delivering exceptional customer service. This position will be in person.

Essential Functions

45% - Delivers exceptional customer service while operating the cash register and preparing a variety of espresso drinks and other beverages.

25% - Sets up, stocks, and breaks down the cafe and coffee bar daily to ensure smooth operations and readiness for service.

20% - Maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards that exceed health department requirements.

10% - Monitors and takes inventory of goods and supplies to support accurate ordering. Prepares daily cash transaction reports and obtain change from the cashier's office. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of office support experience working with financial record keeping, financial transactions or other fiscal related work.

There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Desired Qualifications

A. Minimum of one (1) year working in a coffee shop or cafe setting as a barista.
B. Minimum of one (1) year working with a point-of-sale system or cash register.
C. Ability to provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Special Working Conditions

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:
