Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced API Gateway Engineer with strong expertise in Java-based API development and platform engineering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing API gateway solutions, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing API ecosystems across enterprise platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and manage API Gateway solutions (Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, etc.)
Build and maintain Java-based APIs and microservices
Develop reusable frameworks and tools as part of platform engineering initiatives
Implement API security policies including OAuth2, JWT, and SSL/TLS
Manage API lifecycle including design, versioning, deployment, and monitoring
Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of API platforms
Integrate APIs with internal and external systems
Work closely with DevOps teams for CI/CD pipeline integration
Monitor APIs using tools like Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
Troubleshoot and resolve API performance and connectivity issues
Required Skills & Qualifications
7 years of experience in API development and gateway technologies
Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot / Microservices)
Hands-on experience with API Gateway platforms (Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, etc.)
Experience in platform engineering / developer platforms
Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and API design standards
Experience with authentication & authorization (OAuth2, JWT)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Strong understanding of networking and web protocols (HTTP, HTTPS)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
Exposure to service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
Experience with API analytics and traffic management
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
