What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cellar Hand position at Margerum Wine Company?
The Cellar Hand is responsible for conducting all work on the cellar floor and barrel room. This position reports directly to the Assistant Winemaker and Cellar Master and interacts professionally with their team, other internal staff and all outside vendors. They will be expected to be highly organized, detail oriented, and have a fundamental understanding of cellar techniques. They will also need to be pro-active, excel at communication, problem solve and have a positive attitude. They should also share the company’s values of authenticity, reliability, integrity, quality, customer service and hospitality and provides a critical role within our organization by ensuring that all cellar work is conducted safely, efficiently, and correctly.
Responsibilities
Takes the lead from the Assistant Winemaker and Cellar Master in completing all cellar and barrel work
Conducting wine movements: barrel to tank, tank to barrel, tank to tank, blending and mixing
Forklifting: tanks, bottling materials, bottled cases, barrels and other winemaking equipment
Cleaning and sanitation of all winemaking equipment: tanks, pumps, hoses, harvest equipment, barrels, floors, etc.
Independently initiating and executing work requests and accurately calculating volumes
Ensures work orders are completed on-time and correctly
Assists the warehouse as needs arise
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Experience:
- Winemaking: 2 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Forklift Certification (Preferred)
