SUMMARY: A salesperson drives sales by promoting products (furniture, flooring, mattresses) to customers, answering questions and then closing the deal. They do this by identifying client needs, delivering compelling presentations, and managing relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greets customer on the sales floor and determines make, type, and quality of product desired.
Demonstrates product features, explains benefits, and answers customer questions.
Suggest flooring/furniture products that will complement customer's home and other furnishings.
Stays up to date on industry trends and competitor offerings.
Closes the sales deal to attain sales goals while always providing exceptional customer service.
Accurately prepares sales slip or sales contract based on customer’s intended purchase.
Arrange for delivery of merchandise to customers if needed; or assist with loading out of product into customer’s vehicle according to Marden’s safe loading practices.
Works with Management Team to resolve customer complaints regarding delivery of damaged or incorrect merchandise to ensure customer satisfaction.
Unloads product moves product and sets up displays as directed by the Management Team.
Follows all Marden’s safety policies and strives for clean, safe working conditions in the department; including performing housekeeping tasks as needed to maintain a clean showroom.
Perform other duties assigned by the Management Team.
PEOPLE SKILLS: Must have the ability to communicate with customers in a pleasing manner, with the ability to attentively listen to the customers’ needs. Must have the ability to close the sale.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one-year related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to complete all required paperwork.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to learn to drive a forklift and obtain necessary certification; and operate an electric and manual pallet jack after adequate training.
