We are seeking a Senior Interface Analyst to join a collaborative Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) team. The ideal candidate will have experience working on large-scale system integration projects, strong interface and data analysis skills, and a solid understanding of Medicaid and/or health insurance business processes. Experience with public-sector or government systems is a plus.

This role is responsible for managing day-to-day interface operations, defining technical requirements, supporting data research and analysis, and planning, developing, and executing interface implementation and data migration activities.

The Senior Interface Analyst will participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, including gap analysis, requirements gathering, design, development, documentation, testing, implementation, and post-implementation stabilization. The role also contributes to security and privacy standards, system integration improvements, and enhancements to the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and collaboratively with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and external partners. Strong communication, coordination, documentation, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business teams, functional stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and external partners to gather, analyze, document, and validate interface and interoperability requirements.
  • Develop and maintain interface specifications, schemas, record layouts, file specifications, data mappings, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Lead and participate in Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions and interface design workshops to define field-to-field mappings, transformation rules, default values, code translations, validations, error handling, and reconciliation requirements.
  • Define and document REST/SOAP web services and FHIR API requirements, including endpoints, request and response formats, payloads, authentication, error handling, and interface contracts.
  • Support healthcare interoperability initiatives, including FHIR-based Patient Access, Provider Access, Payer-to-Payer, and Prior Authorization APIs, as applicable.
  • Work with healthcare interoperability standards and technologies, including HL7, FHIR, REST/SOAP APIs, XML, JSON, EDI/X12, SFTP, and flat-file exchanges.
  • Participate in interface design reviews, schema reviews, technical walkthroughs, and unit-test walkthroughs to ensure alignment with approved business and technical requirements.
  • Develop and review interface test scenarios and data validation rules, coordinating System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), end-to-end testing, regression testing, and production validation.
  • Validate inbound and outbound interfaces for data completeness, accuracy, integrity, transformations, error handling, and reconciliation; investigate and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Support secure file-transfer interfaces, including SFTP schedules, folder structures, PGP encryption, access controls, connectivity, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, network, security, gateway, cloud, and access-management teams on interface connectivity, environment changes, approvals, and production issues.
  • Support integrations across healthcare, clinical, administrative, partner, and external systems, including interfaces hosted in AWS, Microsoft Azure, and other integration environments.
  • Troubleshoot interface failures, rejected transactions, file-transfer issues, connectivity problems, and critical production incidents in collaboration with development, vendor, partner, and production-support teams.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned interfaces throughout requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, cutover, production validation, documentation, and post-go-live stabilization.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned interfaces, communicating status, risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay current with healthcare interoperability standards, FHIR specifications, API technologies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8 years of IT experience, with strong interface analysis and data analysis expertise.
  • Strong understanding of interface design, data structures, and system integration, preferably within healthcare IT.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, hosting environments, and integration architecture.
  • Expert knowledge of RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, XML, and data exchange technologies.
  • Experience with secure file-exchange mechanisms and protocols, including SFTP.
  • Understanding of encryption/decryption practices and familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Deep understanding of RESTful principles, statelessness, resource-oriented URIs, and the HTTP request/response lifecycle.
  • Advanced proficiency in validating and debugging JSON payloads and schemas; XML/XSD experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience developing business requirements documents, interface requirements, and detailed technical specifications.
  • Experience with SOAP/REST web services, including request/response analysis and testing.
  • Proficiency in SQL and database validation techniques.
  • Experience analyzing interface error logs and tracing API transactions through middleware tools or log aggregation platforms such as Splunk or Datadog.
  • Experience monitoring API endpoint availability, request volume, success/failure rates, and transaction response times using tools such as Dynatrace or Splunk Observability.
  • Strong understanding of health insurance business processes, interface design, healthcare data structures, and transaction types.
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards and implementations is a plus.
  • Experience working with public-sector, government, or state agency systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in business analysis across all phases of the SDLC.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ownership mentality, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience preparing status reports and presenting project updates to stakeholders and management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and issues to non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a strong focus on data accuracy, quality, and integrity.
  • Self-driven, accountable, and committed to delivering results.
