Safety Manager

Job Title: Safety Specialist Classification : Exempt, Fulltime

Reports To: Plant Manager Revision Date: July 2025

Job Summary:

The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.This role ensures the organization fosters a safe work environment by conducting risk assessments, training employees on safety practices, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions to reduce hazards and improve safety performance.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety policies and procedures, and programs.
• Work with local, state, and federal agencies including OSHA to ensure compliance with all regulations and policies for health and safety standards.
• Plan and direct monthly safety training topics, safety onboarding including GHS training for new hires, and other safety-related training as required for all employees.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments throughout the facility.
• Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
• Analyze incident data and trends to implement proactive safety measures.
• Lead safety training programs and provide education to employees on workplace hazards, emergency procedures and safe work practices.
• Collaborate with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture.
• Develop and coordinate emergency response plans, including fire drills and evacuation procedures.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and insurance providers.
• Collaborate with outside contractors to schedule monthly, quarterly, annual inspections, and service to safety systems as needed.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• Associate degree in safety related field and/or equivalent experience
• Proven experience in industrial safety management preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Commitment to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
