What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Livestock Farm Hand position at Maranatha Farm?
The Seasonal Livestock Farm Hand’s main focus is caring for all of the needs of the livestock (chickens, ducks, geese, sheep and cats) on the farm. This support position will require weekend flexibility and an attention to detail.
Essential Responsibilities
- Livestock care (Free range release, manure removal, egg collection, water/feed, etc.)
- Maintain high level of animal husbandry and cleanliness of coops and livestock barns
- Maintain inventories of all livestock supplies and advise Owner/Livestock Farmer
- Transferring sheep between the barn and Silvopastures for lock-up
- Daily Egg collection
- Dish, bowl and trough cleaning
- Assist with winterization and Fall/Spring deep clean out of coops and barns
- In between weekend opening/closing chores, care for vegetable/fruit plantings
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Required Skills, Physical Qualifications and Competencies:
- Experience working with poultry, fowl, dogs/cats, and ruminants/grazing livestock
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness/organization and animal husbandry
- Experience working outdoor conditions
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- The ability to repeatedly and safely lift 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions
- U.S. Drivers License
Compensation Package:
- Available 40 hours per week: May - November 2026
- Salary: Commensurate with experience ($17-$21 per hour)
- Paid Time Off (rate of one 1 hour per 30 hours of service)
- Housing is not provided with this position
