Marais was founded in 2022 by Jennifer Snape, PE. We believe in providing thoughtful solutions to design challenges for private, federal, and municipal clients in the Gulf Coast Region. We specialize in historic preservation & adaptive reuse, structural design, civil design, and public outreach.

WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS
Marais is seeking a Junior or Mid-Level Civil Engineer.
Junior-Level Engineer: As a junior-level Civil Engineer, you will be involved in the planning, design, and construction of residential, commercial, and public projects with a focus on green infrastructure and drainage design. You will work under senior designers and assist with the development of construction documents (e.g., calculations, technical specifications, drawings) and construction oversight/administration. The ideal candidate will be open to developing creative designs and solutions with sustainability in mind and have the ability to design a project from start to finish. The ideal candidate will also be able to draft and compile a set of construction documents, calculations, specifications, and design reports.
Requirements:
- 3 years of experience in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer-in-training certification
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
- Knowledge and experience of civil engineering concepts, principles and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
- Work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
- Good working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD)
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel
Even better if you have:
- PE license or ability to acquire it within 2 years
- Experience with grading and drainage design
Mid-Level Engineer: As an experienced Civil Engineer, you will lead the planning, design, and construction of residential, commercial, and public projects with a focus on green infrastructure and drainage design. You will also mentor junior designers and assist with the development of construction documents (e.g., calculations, technical specifications, drawings) and construction oversight/administration. You will be open to developing creative designs and solutions with sustainability in mind and have the ability to design a project from start to finish. You will be comfortable communicating with architects, contractors, colleagues, and clients regularly and contributing to business development and planning.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in Civil Engineering
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
- PE license
- Knowledge and experience of civil engineering concepts, principles and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
- Work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
- Good working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD)
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience managing projects and junior staff
Even better if you have:
- Experience with Arc GIS
- Experience with PCSWMM or other modeling programs

Pay: $60,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
