The Role
We are seeking a motivated Preconstruction Assistant Manager to join our Preconstruction team. In this role you’ll assist in all phases of the preconstruction process, gaining exposure to estimating, scheduling, procurement, and construction means & methods — and at the appropriate time, lead preconstruction pursuits of smaller, lower-risk projects under guidance. You will work closely with business developers, architects, engineers, trade partners, internal preconstruction staff and executive leadership to help define scope, budget, schedule, and resources that set projects up for success
Key Responsibilities
- Administer RFIs to the design team; interpret drawings and specifications to support scope development
- Perform intermediate level quantity take-offs under supervision; develop intermediate scope sheets.
- Engage with trade partners: understand which trades perform which scopes of work, discuss project scopes, build clarifications & assumptions.
- Prepare preliminary project schedule for review.
- Update and maintain the pricing database to track historical cost information.
- Assist in setting up bid day recaps and bid tabs for small caliber projects.
- Support the Preconstruction team in all pursuits: coordinating documentation, assisting with estimating, scheduling, procurement, and preconstruction deliverables.
- Actively and urgently communicate critical project updates to supervisors and team members to ensure transparency and effective decision-making.
- Participate in MAPP-sponsored community initiatives, represent MAPP at industry/local networking events, and contribute to community outreach efforts.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related field or related job experience.
Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, project coordination or related role in commercial construction.

Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficient with software tools: MS Excel, Bluebeam, OST (or equivalent)
- Beginner familiarity with advanced preconstruction tools & software, and project scheduling platforms (e.g., Primavera Cloud).
- Proficient understanding of construction documents, technical specifications, construction means & methods.
- Proficient written and verbal communication, analytical skills, problem-solving ability, general safety awareness, advanced organizational skills, intermediate quantity take-off skills.
