Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Reports To: Administrator / Maintenance Director
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role ensures that the physical plant, equipment, and grounds of the Home for the Aged are properly maintained in compliance with Michigan licensing requirements and facility policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems
- Complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and regulatory compliance issues
- Maintain and repair resident rooms, common areas, and exterior grounds
- Ensure all life safety systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting, exit signage) are functioning and properly documented
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs and maintain accurate records/logs
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, including those set by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors as needed
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance storage areas in a clean and organized manner
- Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times
Qualifications:
- Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently
- Strong attention to detail and safety
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or on-call shifts
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
