Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment they walk in
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other health plans, ensuring accurate billing and coding with CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting payments and updating medical records in EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly and courteously
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
- Maintain organized dental records and medical files, including filing documents and managing electronic health records (EHR systems)
- Assist with medical billing processes, insurance verification, intake procedures, and appointment scheduling to support clinic operations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a medical or dental receptionist with strong clerical skills in a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance procedures including Medicare is essential
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and office management software
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and medical records management
- Exceptional customer service abilities combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication skills
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental terminology is beneficial
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
