Title/Abstractor — East Texas/Northwest Louisiana (Hybrid)
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Title Abstractor Landman to support land, leasing, acquisition, and due diligence projects throughout East Texas and Northwest Louisiana. This hybrid role combines courthouse research, remote title analysis, and collaboration with landmen, attorneys, and clients to ensure accurate mineral and surface ownership determinations. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of oil and gas title research, chain of title analysis, and public records interpretation within Texas and Louisiana jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- :Conduct comprehensive title research using courthouse records, online databases, GIS systems, and abstract plants
- .Review and interpret deeds, leases, probate filings, conveyances, easements, liens, judgments, assignments, and other legal instruments affecting title
- .Establish and verify complete chains of title for mineral and surface ownership interests
- .Prepare accurate title abstracts, ownership reports, run sheets, and due diligence summaries for leasing, drilling, acquisition, and curative purposes
- .Identify title defects, ownership discrepancies, unleased interests, and curative requirements
- .Collaborate with landmen, title attorneys, division order analysts, and project managers to resolve title issues and confirm ownership positions
- .Maintain organized digital and physical records of research, maps, supporting documentation, and project files
- .Travel periodically to county courthouses and clerk offices throughout East Texas and Northwest Louisiana as project needs require
