Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Machine Shop Supervisor to lead our manufacturing team in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment. In this role, you will oversee daily operations within the machine shop, ensuring that machining processes meet quality standards, safety regulations, and production deadlines. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimize machine utilization, and foster a collaborative team atmosphere. The ideal candidate is passionate about manufacturing excellence and possesses strong technical expertise in CNC machining, manual machining, blueprint interpretation, machine set up and programming.$1000 sign on bonus, 4 day work week
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily machining activities on CNC and manual machines including lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining tools
- Oversee machine setup, calibration, and operation to ensure precision and efficiency in metal and plastics injection molding components
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for machining issues, utilizing mechanical knowledge and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Ensure all machining work adheres to detailed blueprints, mechanical blueprints interpretation standards, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and safety protocols
- Develop and implement CNC G-code programming strategies using Fanuc or similar controllers; modify CAM programs for optimized production runs
- Conduct quality inspections utilizing CNC quality inspection techniques and measurement instruments to verify parts meet specifications
- Train team members on the proper use of tooling, hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and safety procedures while promoting lean manufacturing principles
- Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, machine maintenance logs, inspection reports, and process improvements
Qualifications
- Proven experience supervising a machine shop or manufacturing environment with strong leadership skills
- Extensive knowledge of CNC programming (CNC G-code), CAM programming, manual machining techniques, and blueprint reading
- Proficiency with CAD Fusion 360 software for part design review and modifications
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), grinding processes, welding techniques, and plastics injection molding is preferred
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for quality control
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and M-code programming language
- Strong math skills for precise measurement calculations; basic math proficiency essential
